Raritan Marine Elegance head control update

We have the Marine Elegance heads from Raritan on our GB 42:

These are old enough (not sure when these were installed by a previous owner) that the original flush control box failed on each one. When the first control  failed (showing the old version that failed part number SSFC01W):

The control panel for that unit is:

I had to buy both a new control box as well as the new version panel which cost $250. The new control box is similar to the old (part number STC548W):

The new parts can be purchased from a variety of retailers, I bought mine from  Defender Marine part number 503745 (link here).

The new panel did not fit into the existing holes and cut-out:

The key decision here is whether to drill four new holes or attempt to re-use two of the existing ones. I choose to re-use two holes and was able to almost perfectly cover the two remaining old holes with the new panel:

The overall project was not difficult, but seems odd that both panels use a cat5 cable network connection, but they are not compatible. I now have two old style control panels that work perfectly well, but cannot be used. Urgh!
